GALILEO Funding in Jeopardy!

from Michelle and Lasa:

The 2011 session has been off to a slow start, due to the snow and ice storm that took place nearly two weeks ago. The General Assembly will convene on Monday, January 24th for Day 3 of the session. This week, the House and Senate Appropriations Committees met to review the FY 2011 supplemental and FY 2012 budgets.  Newly elected Superintendent Dr. John Barge presented the DOE budgets to the joint committees.  During the presentation, DOE staff noted the elimination of the department’s funding for GALILEO, stating that while the program is useful, it is not necessary.  If GLMA wants to see the DOE restore its funding for the GALILEO program, now is the time! To find your legislator,  Until next week, stay tuned.
