PSC Proposed Rule Change Omits Media Specialists

The Professional Standards Commission has proposed a new rule concerning the option for the Teacher Leader Endorsement Program effective December 15. The rule change omits the LMS service field as an option for the Teacher Leader Endorsement Program. In other words, LMS with the S5 certificate will not be eligible under the PSC definitions of who can and cannot obtain the leadership endorsement.

Please know that GLMA is working with our lobbyists to formally state our
position on behalf of the LMS of Georgia. We are also requesting a formal
hearing. Under the PSC notice, any association of 25 members or more has
the right to request this.

Any LMS may contact the PSC on the proposed rule change:
“All interested persons shall be afforded reasonable opportunity to submit
data, views, or arguments orally or in writing. Anyone interested in
making a written statement may do so by submitting it to the undersigned

Professional Standards Commission
Two Peachtree Street, Suite 6000
Atlanta, GA 30303

It is requested that such a statement be delivered on or before October
16, 2010. Opportunity for oral hearing shall be granted if requested by 25
persons who will be directly affected by the proposed rule, by a
governmental subdivision, or by an association having not less than 25

We thank Phyllis Snipes for making us aware of this change so we can make our voice heard on this important issue.
