Senate Education & Youth Committee to Hear HB 908 Thursday, February 18

HB 908 will be presented in the Senate Education & Youth C ommittee tomorrow, Thursday, February 18th.

HB 908 will allow local systems to waive media center expenditure controls for three years, through 2013, without having to apply to the State Board of Education.

Contact Senators on the education committee and explain to them the negative impact waiving expenditure controls for three years will have on all of the students in your school.  Offer your stories that support the following points:

  • The media center is the largest classroom in the school.
  • The media center is a great equalizer for all K-12 students.
  • Media center expenditure controls were put into place many years ago to safeguard materials and resources that are made available to all students.
  • Media center resources are used to support changes in the curriculum for all grades.

Stay tuned,
