Happy Birthday, President Lincoln!

The Library of Congress has partnered with the History Channel to present Hidden Treasures at the Library of Congress. This exciting opportunity to examine artifacts from the collections of the LOC brings pieces of history right to the viewer.

Several of these videos would be appropriate to use to honor Lincoln’s upcoming birthday. Listen as Curator Clark Evans shows you the Bible used by both President Lincoln and President Obama for their inauguration ceremonies.  273 Words to a New America will explain the copies of the Gettysburg Address held in the LOC. Another video interview explores the contents of Lincoln’s pockets at Ford’s Theatre on April 14, 1865.

This joint effort with the History Channel provides us with a unique chance to learn more about some of the pieces of history that have shaped our nation as you peek into the collections of The Library of Congress.
