I’m too bummed out about this news to blog anything of substance toady: Gwinnett libraries cut hours.
I’ll just leave you with this thought for today, from one of the many mentors I met in the library.
“I received the fundamentals of my education in school, but that was not enough. My real education, the superstructure, the details, the true architecture, I got out of the public library. …Now, when I read constantly about the way in which library funds are being cut and cut, I can only think that the door is closing and that American society has found one more way to destroy itself.”
Watching these videos from another mentor, Ray Bradbury, might cheer you up. If you can, take the time to watch watch the long version.
“Go to the library and discover yourself,” he says.
He’s my hero.
