This I Believe

I imagine that many of you enjoy “This I believe” on NPR as much as I do. As I’ve been thinking about the inauguration and how it falls so close to Dr. King’s birthday holiday, I started to think about what a great opportunity this might be for all of us to reflect on what we believe about our country and about education. Which brings me back to “This I Believe”. I actually found that This I Believe is an organization with an excellent web site that is full of essays and curriculum resources for educators . I found Walt’s statement of belief to a commitment to lifelong learning to be a perfect statement for media specialists. Raven’s essay is about the power of books. Those are just a couple of highlights from my perspective. It’s pretty easy to browse the essays for themes that might speak to you or your students.

The episode that aired yesterday on NPR was done by a 1st grader who shared 30 things he believes–he’s an amazing child–don’t miss it!!
