2008 GLMA Intellectual Freedom Award Applications

The mission and goal of the Georgia Library Media Association’s Intellectual Freedom Division is to uphold the American Library Association’s basic policies on:

·         Free access to libraries and library materials.

·         To educate librarians and general public about the nature and importance of intellectual freedom in libraries.  

Georgia Library Media Association (GLMA) and ProQuest, jointly sponsor the Intellectual Freedom of Information Award.  The award recognizes the contributions of a school library media specialist who has affirmed in an active way the rights of students to information and ideas furthering the cause of intellectual and academic freedom.  This award is donated by ProQuest® and will be given at the COMO Annual Conference.

Applications can be downloaded from the GLMA website.

Please submit all nominations by January 18th, 2008 to: Valerie Ayer, DeKalb County Schools
